Living legends My Bloody Valentine played one of their last shows at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium on Wednesday. The line circled half the building and continued into the parking lot, but even the massive amount of bodies didn’t deter some from trying to buy tickets at the door and others from selling them there as well.

This was one of the loudest concerts I had ever been to. Upon entering the building, the security guards thrusted earplugs into my hands and told me that the band had requested we put them on. I already had three pairs in my bag, but what the hell? One more pair wouldn’t hurt. The show ended with me shielding my eyes and pondering about why I felt like I was experiencing an earthquake and a fireworks show at the same time. Here is everything that happened in between:

Overall, the show was life-changing and spectacular. Compared to the shows that I’ve been to recently, this one was one with a more mature crowd. Every seat in the house was filled, but the pit was completely covered as well. I recall looking back from the photo pit and seeing a man in his late 60s up against the barrier, thinking to myself, “Yeap, music is timeless.” I guess that makes My Bloody Valentine timeless as well.
