Concert in Kuwait Ended for Indecency

A concert in Kuwait by Egyptian singer Tamer Hosny had to be ended early because a teenage girl jumped on stage and gave Hosny a kiss.
The concert “defied the conservative traditions of Kuwait,” according to Qanas Al-Adwani, Kuwait’s Information Minister. Such controls were imposed in Kuwait in 1997, after fundamentalists tried to ban concerts altogether. The compromise resulted in the government licensing concerts and monitoring them to make sure no one is dancing. Officials are considering fining the venue, the Al-Raya hotel, and creating harsher restrictions on such behavior.
