falloutboy sl101308 300x240 Fall Out Boy Pushes Album Back Six WeeksNovember 4th is an important date for both politicians and voters, as well as bands and music fans. The proof is in how many musicians whom have decided to release albums on election day. Chris Cornell, Filter, Switchfoot and even Lindsay Lohan (although I don’t think she has any link to politics) have chosen November 4th for their official release dates.

Fall Out Boy used to be part of this group. They have now decided to change the date to December 16th. Although they originally intertwined the two future events as something great, the band has changed their minds in fear of actually not being able to do what they planned.

According to Billboard, the bands says,

Six months ago we thought it would be a fun idea to release our album on election day but this is not the election to be cute. We felt as though rather than making a commentary we were only riding the wave of the election. This seemed less and less like what we intended to do and more of a gimmick [...] not the date we had originally planned nor the optimal date according some demographic marketing analysis, [but] we put our eight feet down told our label it must come out this year.

Fans may be disappointed, but Fall Out Boy tried to debrief their fans by saying that there will be a “surprise or two” on Folie a Deux with one of them being rumored to be an Elvis Costello appearance. Plus, it’s not like anyone needs something in common with Lindsay Lohan.
