eels The Eels Release Free Live EP

The Eels have released a free live EP on their website. Well, it’s not completely free. To download the EP, you have to fork over your email address.

The EP is comprised of four live tracks that were recorded in Manchester in 2005 on The Eels’ “With Strings” tour. The songs are “Fresh Feeling,” “Packing Blankets,” “Jeannie’s Diary” and “Climbing To the Moon.”

The EP will only be available until October 28, the day that The Eels release a limited edition 4-vinyl version of their 2005 album Blinking Lights. The first three records will contain the album and the fourth will be the full 17-song Manchester show. Only 2,500 copies of this limited edition will be made and each one will be signed by Eels mastermind Mark “E” Everett and numbered from 0001 to 2500.

By the way, the limited edition album will set you back $205 plus shipping. I’ll be sticking with the free EP.

In other Eels news, PBS will be airing a documentary on Mark Everett starting tonight, October 21 titled “Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives.” The documentary follows Mark’s quest to understand his father’s theory on quantum physics. Check your local listings for details.
