With The Strokes on hiatus until next year, members of the band have taken the opportunity to pursue other projects. Drummer Fab Moretti is the next to join the club.

Fab’s new band is called Little Joy and features his girlfriend Binki Shapiro and Brazilian guitarist and singer Rodrigo Amarante. The music is lighter than The Strokes, but the vocals are strikingly similar. The band’s self-titled debut album will be out on November 4 via Rough Trade Records.

Little Joy recently wrapped up a series of west coast dates with Megapuss and now have their sites set on the east. The band will kick off a new tour St. Paul, MN on November 7 and wrap the tour up in Austin, TX on November 29.

The Strokes are due to return to active life in early 2009.
