thebeatles Beatles Video Game Scheduled For 2009

The Beatles’ Apple Corps. officially announced their plan to join the video game revolution this morning. They have signed an agreement with MTV Games and Harmonix, makers of the Rock Band series.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the game will not be a part of the Rock Band series, but will be it’s own separate video game. It will feature the visuals representing the various eras of The Beatles career from the black and white days to the hippie days.

It’s not clear yet whether the band’s likenesses will be used in the game, but how great would that be?

Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin, will oversea the music for the game. Giles also co-produced the music for the Love project.

With The Beatles opening the door to video games, can we finally expect to see the band’s music for sale via digital download services?  Let’s hope so.
