BBQ Review: Forever the Sickest Kids at the HOB Sunset
By Winnie Jaing
Yesterday I made the trek down Sunset Blvd in Hollywood to the House of Blues to cover a barbeque headed by Forever the Sickest and Vans. The last time I saw FTSK was at Warped Tour, and I was excited to be able to see them again. Unfortunately, upon arriving, all I saw was a MASSIVE line of people waiting to get in and hardly anyone by the Vans RV.
The fans that crowded by the van were timid and shy, constantly referencing FTSK keyboardist Kent as the guy who invited them over. The cooks urged everyone to get food, but because no one recognizable was encouraging them, the food was left mainly untouched by concert-goers.
Bassist Austin Bello stepped out for a bit, and fans swarmed to his location to take pictures and talk to him. I didn’t get to see any of the other members, besides Kent, but I’m sure they were lurking around somewhere. I realized that fans probably didn’t want to give up their place in line, so they chose not to go to the BBQ, but what could be better than meeting the band themselves?
The BBQ concluded with a meet and greet between FTSK and certain fans, but many stayed in line to get a good spot for the show later in the night.
Forever the Sickest Kids performed with Cobra Starship, Sing it Loud, and Hit The Lights.
