Kat Von D & Samsung Mobile Presents MUSINK Tattoo And Music Festival

A while back, LA Ink‘s Kat Von D conceived the dream of a creating a tattoo, music, art and lifestyle festival she called MUSINK. After that dream was executed at its February 2008 debut in Orange County, Von D decided to turn the event into a traveling festival that now spans 25 different cities with American punk rock icons, Social Distortion, to headline and hard rock legends, Motorhead, set to make an appearance.

Now for the first time ever, MUSINK is national for six weeks. The MUSINK FESTIVAL Tattoo Arena will showcase some of the best tattoo artists from across the globe–including Kat Von D at every date–and feature tattoo sessions, seminars, tattoo contests and autograph signings.  MUSINK will also feature Von D’s forthcoming book HIGH VOLTAGE TATTOO (CollinsDesign; available January 20, 2009), which she’ll be on-hand to sign at every venue.

Von D explains her reasoning for taking MUSINK on the road:

We had such a blast with the first MUSINK Festival, it only made sense to take this event on the road and share the experience with everyone all over the country. In my lifelong attempt to show the world what a brilliant form of art tattooing truly is, MUSINK will be the perfect way to showcase the world’s top tattooers, and their diversity in culture and style of the art–all under one roof.  MUSINK is gonna be so huge and so rockin’; I can’t wait to share it with the fans!

Social Distortion’s frontman, Mike Ness, also states his excitment for the tour:

This is incredible–MUSINK has finally put these two elements together in a very cool way. Tattoos have always been a very personal thing to me and I never thought Social Distortion would have the opportunity to do an event like this.  I can definitely say that we’re stoked to be a part of it. I mean, I can play every night and get tattooed by some of the best artists in the world during the day. Seriously, what goes better than rock n’ roll and tattoos?
