Tegan To Protest Passing of Proposition 8 in LA Tonight

Tegan Quinn of Tegan and Sara will be in Los Angeles tonight to join the protest of the passing of Proposition 8 in California. Proposition 8 which proposed to ban gay marriage in California passed with 52% of the vote. Tegan will be a part of the protest of this result tonight at 647 North San Vicente Blvd. in West Hollywood. Roads will be closed to accomodate the event at 6 PM and the protest is scheduled to start at 7 PM.
In a message on MySpace, Tegan said “As deeply disappointed as we all are that California voters passed Proposition 8, we must not allow that disappointment to linger. This vote is a temporary defeat in the long march toward equal rights for all citizens in America.”
Prior to election day, two of the music industry’s most powerful forces came out in opposition to Proposition 8. Both Apple and Live Nation both gave $100,000 and $50,000 respectively to fight the ballot measure.
