The Kinks Working On New Music

Ray Davies has told the BBC that The Kinks have started writing new songs for a possible reunion. Ray’s brother and Kinks bandmate Dave Davies suffered a stroke in 2004 but is in good health and involved in writing the new music. It’s unclear which if any other former Kinks members are involved.
Ray didn’t guarantee anything though. He said “It depends if there’s good music. We want good new music. I’d like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do.”
Ray isn’t pushing his solo career aside for The Kinks though. He will still tour the US in at the end of November into December and continue to work on new projects including an album with a choir and a duets album. For the duets album, Ray is hoping to work with Johnny Borrell of Razorlight, Snow Patrol and rock and roll legend Chuck Berry among others.
The Kinks last performed together in 1996. To see a reunion of this legendary band would be a sight to see. Hopefully it’s something we can look forward to seeing on the road some time in the not-so-distant future.
