The Killers, Kanye, Ludacris Album Releases Pushed Up

According to a Billboard report, Island Def Jam Records is pushing up the release of The Killers new album Day & Age as well as new albums by Kanye West and Ludacris.

The albums were due out on Tuesday, November 25 and are now being released on Monday, November 24. Yes, they are pushing the albums up one day. The move is being made in a hope to cash-in on Thanksgiving week shoppers. It seems ridiculous, but it’s true.

Guns ‘N’ Roses is releasing their new album on Sunday, November 23 so it’s on sale during Best Buy’s entire weekly sales period which runs from Sunday to Saturday.

Will one day make a huge difference in sales? Probably not. If this is the record industry’s plan to save the traditional music business model, it’s probably more doomed than we think.
