Legendary Drummer Mitch Mitchell Has Died

Mitch Mitchell, the legendeary drummer in Jimi Hendrix’s band The Experience, passed away today in Portland. He was 61. He was found at the Benson Hotel just after 3 AM reports local television station KGW-TV. The medical examiner said that he died from natural causes, though an autopsy is scheduled.
Mitchell played in The Experience from 1966 to 1969. His drumming was pivotal to the sound Jimi Hendrix currated during his short career. He held the groove during Hendrix’s blistering solos. He was the last surviving member of the band.
During his career, he played with bands other than The Experience including The Pretty Things, Georgie Fame, The Riot Squad and many more. His work will live on for many years to come.
