NEWS: Ben Lee to Release ‘The Rebirth of Venus’

Australian songwriter Ben Lee is gearing up to release his seventh studio album on February 10 via New West Records titled The Rebirth of Venus.
Lee brought back producer Brad Wood to work on the album. Wood produced Lee’s last two albums Awake is the New Sleep and Ripe. Rebirth will feature guest musicians Missy Higgins and Cary Brothers among others.
The proceeds for the album will benefit FINCA International’s Village Banking campaign. It seems odd that a musician that hasn’t had a great deal of commercial would give away the proceeds to a charity, but maybe it’s another telltale sign that the traditional business model is almost dead. Either way, kudos to Ben for his philanthropy.
