NEWS: Black Keys Frontman to Release Solo Record

Dan Auerbach, guitarist and singer of the duo The Black Keys, will release his first solo album titled Keep It Hid on February 10 via Nonesuch Records.

Instead of his usual cohort Patrick Carney on drums, Auerbach tackled the kit himself. The album also features Auerbach’s uncle James Quine on guitar on the track “Street Walkin’” and fellow Ohio singer-songwriter Jessica Lea Mayfield singing on “When the Night Comes.”

The tracks for the album were recorded on analog tape during The Black Keys down time. Auerbach said in a statement “I wanted a live, organic sound. Nothing was too plotted or planned, just a lot of spontaneity.”

Auerbach will hit the road next year in support of the album. The tour will kick off on February 28 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Those Darlins and Hacienda will open the tour. Hacienda will also serve as Auerbach’s backing band. Check out the complete list of tour dates here.
