NEWS: Radiohead, Wilco Members Join Neil Finn Project

After a successful run over the past few years with his old band Crowded House, Neil Finn is ready to tackle a new solo album. It will be the follow-up to the 2001 live album 7 Worlds Collide which featured a number of Finn’s famous friends including Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien and Phil Selway, The Smiths/Modest Mouse/The Cribs guitarist Johnny Marr and multi-instrumentalist Lisa Germano. All of these friends will rejoin Finn on his new studio project.

But that’s not all folks. A bunch of new friends will be on the album as well including Wilco members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone, Neil’s son Liam Finn and New Zealand musicians Don McGlashan and Bic Runga.

The album will be recorded over Christmas 2008 and New Year 2009. Once the album is released, all of the proceeds will be given to Oxfam International.

The collective plan to play some informal gigs on January 5, 6 and 7 at Powerstation in Auckland, New Zealand. Details of the shows will be announced soon.
