Paul McCartney has confirmed the existence of an unreleased experimental Beatles track titled “Carnival of Lights” and he hopes to release it reports the Associated Press. The song was recorded in 1967 at Abbey Road studios and supposedly features distorted guitars, organs, gargling and Lennon and McCartney screaming “Barcelona!” and “Are you all right?.” Oh, and it’s 14 minutes long.

The track was played once at an electronic music festival in London, but has not been played publicly since. McCartney wanted to release the track on the Anthology series, but the rest of the band vetoed the idea. He recently said that “the time has come for it to get its moment.”

To release the song, McCartney still needs the approval of Ringo Starr as well as Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison. That might be a challenge, but the overseers of the late Beatles’ estates have been pretty agreeable lately. Let’s not forget the Cirque du Soleil project Love as well as the upcoming Beatles video game.

As a huge Beatles fan, I’m intrigued by the possibility of hearing anything the four lads created, no matter how absurd it ends up being.

Paul McCartney’s new album Electric Arguments, a project with Youth under the moniker The Fireman, is due out on November 25.
