West Indian Girl Ends November Residency at Spaceland

Los Angeles-based band West Indian Girl’s finishes their takeover at Spaceland Thursday, November 20th, one week earlier than planed. So those of you who thought you could catch their last performance on Thanksgiving better re-schedule their plans. Apparently the band wants the night off.

The overall sound of this six-piece beautiful-person operation is very much classic rock – think Queen, Jellyfish, Guns n’ Roses, and The Beatles (in their latter, dreamier years) – with an undercurrent of psychadelic rock fusing everything together. West Indian Girl attribute their style as influenced by “neurotransmitters and beautiful receptors” – quite apropos considering those vital cell parts’ role within the nervous system on which the functions of thought and perception rely. Listeners might find themselves granted a mental vacation (without the burden of air fare) via three-to-five-minute increments of song.

So if you feel warranted in treating yourself to a pre-weekend slice of nightlife, head down Silverlake and check out West Indian Girl. Doors open at 8:30 pm, Thursday, November 20th. Also on the bill are bands Poolabomb, The Polyamorous Affair, Tremblexy, Shakti & DJ Nynex.
