mrvegascover EP REVIEW: Mr. Vegas, Oh My Gosh

Mr. Vegas has teamed up with remix masters Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir on “Oh My Gosh”, resulting in a short, sweet, punchy package. By combining a steady trend of beats with unexpected modifications, this EP proves fit for the dual purposes of casual listening and gyrating in a sea of bodies in a dark club, high on elevated endorphins.

With “Oh My Gosh” serving as the EP’s base track, it is possible that one might find more meaning in the overall get-up-and-jam feeling than the actual lyrical content (simply about dance, sex, and the resulting physical response, if you will). However, the “Oh My Gutta” remix stands out as far as conjuring a grittier, rougher edge – coming off as more street than dance club, yet aiming still for instinctive body-moving. “Whining Machine” is also a catchy isolated track – with Mr. Vegas’ adept talent of singing and chanting in the Jamaican reggae style, coupled with what seems to be gunshots and mimicking them with said vocals. Mr. Vegas, LaCrate, and Samir are a mutual partnership on “Oh My Gosh” regardless, but by teaming up on an original track outside of other reworkings is positive in their ability to churn out more than just one functional beat.
