Whilst i’ve seen them live too many times over the years & had some wonderful times, being something of a lazy so’n’so, one of the greatest experiences was when the UK premiere for Sugartown was held in my ‘local’ back in July 1999 – not only less than a five minute walk away from where i was living at the time but, with John in attendance – doing a Q&A, & signing autographs & posing for pictures after the film – & seemingly zero publicity so that it wasn’t packed out, it was a fabulous evening. ;)

Just a few weeks ago I went to see Duran Duran in São Paulo. I heard they were staying at the Hilton so I took a cab there straight from the airport. Before I even got off the cab I saw some security at the hotel door and a van. Then someone walked out and group of people aproached him, asking for pictures.
I was sure it was one of the Durans, so I jumped out of the cab and ran after him. Turned out it was a famous samba singer, but definatly not Simon LeBon. He stopped to sign me an autograph, then looked at me curiously when he saw that the record in my hands wasn’t his. After running what seemed like miles to reach him, I just said “nope, not you” and simply turned my back. Behind me, was the cab driver, screaming his head off and cause he thought I´d run away. I completely forgot I had to pay him, so he cursed me in front of everyone. To top it all, I insisted on staying there, pestering people for information until I got it from a safe source tjhat Duran Duran wasn´t even staying there. In the end, I ended up meeting the fab four somewhere else, but I think I´m probably banished from every Hilton hotel in Brazil.

I’ve been a fan of Duran since 1981 (I was 8). I even cried when the boat Simon was on, capsized. I stayed glued to the t.v. just to hear any news of him being alright. I am now 35 years old and this past May was the *first* time I got to see them in concert(Orlando). Needless to say, as boring as that sounds, it is my one and only phenomenal time getting to see them. I even rearranged my bowling schedule to be able to go to this concert.

I think my best time was when I had to interview them for the oficial comunity magazine. It was chaotic, cos there were a lot of fans who had a piece of them, but also was wonderful cos I had the chance to talk to them, something I wanted to do since I was 13

I sat near Simon on an airplane once and we were both waiting for the bathroom. We both had to go really bad. I couldn’t hold it…I had to fart. I thought the plane noise was loud enough to cover up the sound, but Simon caught me. I was mortified and he knew it. He looked at me, smiled, and let one go himself. I’d like to think he did it just to make me feel better. We both had a laugh. I’ll never look at him the same. Don’t tell anyone. :)

I was awoken one night with a telephone call. The person on the other end said he was Nick Rhodes and was calling to say "hi'. Naturally, I'm half asleep and not pleased that someone's playing a trick. I said something rather unflattering and hung up. The phone rings back, and this time there is a "Simon" on the other end. Sounds like a British accent. He then proceeds to ask me why I hung up on Nick!

As it turns out, the band was in L.A. doing rehearsals, and my friend Mark is hanging out with them. After a late night session, he talked them into calling me. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't say anything on the phone. How ridiculous is that!

My most humilating experience was in the House of Blues show back when they did the second leg of the Astronaut Tour. I had seen Roger at the after party walking in and out of the VIP roped section. My friends dared me to ask him a question when approaching him. As he was walking, I called out, "Roger! Roger!" cause the music was loud. He turned around and said hi. I got so shy but then blurted the question, "Would you like a full body massage tonight?" He responded with a blush and smile, "No thanks luv. I'm alright for the night." I asked, "You sure?" He said, "Yep" and walked away back to the section where Gisella was. I felt like an idiot but oh well, we all learn. Till this day, I remember that night like if it were yesterday.

I was awoken out of a dead sleep one night to the ring of the telephone. Who is on the other end? Nick Rhodes. But I'm half asleep, and am convinced it is one of my friends playing a trick on me. I believe I said something a little unflattering and hung up. The phone rang back and this time, as it turns out, it isSimon, asking me why I hung up on them. I felt pretty ridiculous.

My friend Mark had been hanging out with the band in L.A. during some rehearsals, and after a late evening, he talked them into calling me. I was so embarrased that I couldn;t say a single thing at that point

What can I say, any experience with Duran Duran is phenomenal. Although I have been a fan since I was 10 years old, I have only had the pleasure of seeing this most fantastic band once, earlier this year in Australia. Oh my God, no words can explain how I felt, and still feel to this day. My life is far better for seeing these guys perform. They actually connect with you somehow while being on stage. Any real Duran fan will understand what I mean. PHENOMENAL = DURAN DURAN.

5/12/05-JT radio int. I've met JT many times before–1st being 3/15/85. This time was different however. 1st of all, I was the only 1 at the radio station. No one else was there. Next was I brought my dog w/ me. When JT arrived, I asked him to sign my Terroristen poster. He looked at it & said, "I don't have one of these. Where did you get it?" I said, "Oh it was attached to a tree @ the Coach House & I climbed up the tree & tore it down. I actually took 3." I asked him to sign it for me & my doggie. I then started "talking" to my purse & he looked at me strangely…"Oh, I have my dog in my purse." I said. Oh, why don't you take him out?" JT said. I hesitated for a bit since no animals were allowed at the station. I took out my doggie & then JT said, "Oh, he's cute. What kind of dog is he?" "Ah, he's a Chihuahua…" "Oh, he is? I have Chihuahuas too." JT said. I took some pictures of JT petting my dog, & then Tater Tot started to obsessively lick John's tennis shoes.

I gaze up, pinned against the security barrier, as Simon le Bon, my idol, sings my favorite song, Come Undone. He licks his finger and it becomes too much! In a moment of wild abandon, I slip off my knickers and throw them on the stage. They land at his feet. He’s seen them flying past (how could you not?) but being the consummate professional, he keeps singing. My knickers remain there for eons, dejected. Simon swaggers past and suddenly, he kicks them into the air. They sail down onto a bouncer’s head. I’m torn. I’m knickerless and most embarrassed.

Two years ago in LA at the Elton John after party for the Ocscars, I got into the VIP area by accident and my 1st celeb encounter was Nick Rhodes! He was very cool, approachable and shorter than I expected. We chatted briefly about their last trip to Dallas and how they said it was a crazy time – but he liked Texas. We toasted to the night and then I talked to Kyle MacLachlan for a bit before being thrown out by security.

Hungry Like the Wolf in Dallas,

My most embarrassing moment was in July of 2005 when they were on their second leg of their Astronaut tour. I actually approached Roger at the after party and asked him if he wanted a full body massage. His response was, "No thanks luv. I'm alright for the night." That's when I realized Gisella was sitting in the VIP section waiting for him. Boy, did I feel stupid afterwards. Till this day I will not forget the feeling of redness of my cheeks asking him this bravely.
