Ex-Distiller Brody Dalle Returns with Spinnerette

If you thought that a sketchy band break-up, a marriage and a new-born baby could slow down ex-Distiller Brody Dalle, think again.
Dalle is back as the lead singer/guitarist for Spinnerette. On Dec. 11, the band independently released a four-song EP, Ghetto Love, via their Web site.
Dalle’s new band may not have the raw, screaming guitars and blood-curdling shrieks that defined the Distillers, but Spinnerette comes with a fuzz-driven, dancier sound that is still full-speed-ahead.
The $5 EP includes the self-titled track and three others that reflect the eclectic influence of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal (both are bands Dalle has become involved with since getting hitched to QOTSA front man Josh Homme).
Fans who purchase the EP will also receive a video for the song “Ghetto Love,” directed by Liam Lynch, but the video and all four tracks can be enjoyed for free on the band’s Web site.
In an e-mail message to fans about Ghetto Love, Spinnerette writes:
“Please note that we are putting this out ourselves and that downloading for free, ’stealing’ will mean that we might not tour as far and wide as we’d like to, due to a lack of funds…”
So if you love Brody, or the Distillers, or you just want to boost your integrity as a music fan, get on Spinnerette’s Web site and contribute your five bucks so we can see this band in action on tour!
