News: Paul McCartney Takes Credit for Lennon’s Politics
By Matt Unangst
Not content with changing the authorship of the Beatles’ songs to raise himself above John Lennon, Paul McCartney is beginning attacks on Lennon’s politics. In an interview with the U.K.’s Prospect magazine published Sunday, McCartney claimed that he was the Beatle who first became politically involved. McCartney said that a meeting he had with philosopher Bertrand Russell in the mid-60s was the first exposure any of the Beatles had to alternative thoughts on world events. He says that he told Lennon of the meeting, inspiring Lennon’s later political stances. McCartney went on to claim that his political work inspired Bono and Bob Geldorf in their work in Africa.
Yet more Paul McCartney craziness. This man will do whatever he can to stay in the public spotlight and make himself out to be wonderful. Even if he did plant the seed in John Lennon’s mind, he didn’t do nearly as much publicly, meaning that it didn’t matter nearly as much and that there is no way that he was a major inspiration for anyone in terms of humanitarianism. Why can’t he be like Ringo and become a hermit instead of continuing to fight for glory. I’m interested to see what he will do next to stay famous and put down John Lennon.
