johnlennon John Lennon recording sells for $30k

Back in 1973, John Lennon reportedly had a few too many after leaving Yoko and was recorded singing the Lloyd Price song “Just Because”(a song her later recorded and put on the album Rock ‘n’ Roll). As drunk people often do he improvised the lyrics a bit, making the recording pretty unique, and pretty valuable.

At an auction this past weekend the six minute track went for a whopping $30,000 at LA auctioneers Bonhams and Butterfields. Check out one of Lennon’s improvised lyrics after the break:

“Just a little cocaine will set me right… Wanna take all them new singers, Carol and the other one with the nipples, I wanna take ‘em and hold ‘em tight”.
