New Year’s Eve Round-UP: Top Ten U.S. Concerts
By davidhall

Yes, it’s tough times with the economy, so maybe you’re on a budget (cheap champagne and a good movie at home) for New Year’s Eve 2008 – 2009. But some of you might still be looking for s good show to get into.
So if you’ve got the cash to dish out, here are ten shows that are worth the splurge:
10. Of Montreal @ 40 Watt in Athens, GA ($15): The low ticket price might balance out the price of airfare/travel.
9. Tiesto @ Roseland Ballroom in NYC ($150-300): Bring glow sticks!
8. GWAR @ The National in Richmond, VA ($20): Who doesn’t enjoy a (fake) bloodbath with their champagne?
7. Cake @ Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, WI ($45-75): For that price, let’s hope drinks are on the house…
6. Rose Hill Drive @ Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO ($30): Don’t miss these local classic-rockers performing tons of original material along with Led Zeppelin II in its entirety!
5. Phil Lesh & Friends @ Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA ($65): Get ready to mellow out (or zone out, depending on which way you look at it) before the toast.
4. Ghostland Observatory @WaMu Theater in Seattle, WA ($35): Flashing lights, insane lasers, huge dance party… need I say more?
3. Doobie Brothers @ Universal City Walk Plaza Stage in Orlando, FL ($200): A true southern style New Year’s hootnanny.
2. Wu Tang Clan @ Sonar in Baltimore, MD ($65): This show will feature ALL members (aside from ODB of course) plus guests. It’s a rare treat to get all clan members under one roof, so get ready for the ruckus!
1. My Morning Jacket @ Madison Square Garden in NYC ($49.50): Having played countless major festivals as well as touring tirelessly, My Morning Jacket has proved itself of one of the most prolific live acts of this era. Don’t miss the big toast with one of 2008′s most mind-blowing bands!
