Some of us were lucky enough to make it to the wonderful world of Coachella, but many of us were unable to go and experience it. For those of you who were unable to make it or for those of you who were too messed up to even remember going, here is a photo essay of just a few of the many highlights of Coachella. So we begin!

Whoever thought they’d get to see Sly Stone get on stage again? No-one, until some months ago reports started filtering through that he’d been appearing unannounced on stage with the Family Stone band, based around Little Sister (Vet), Sister Rose’s daughter Lisa, and Cynthia on trumpet. Back in the day, Sly was notorious for showing up late to gigs, or not at all, and disappearing for years into drug-induced seclusion. But he was also known for having the first integrated rock/r&b band, for playing the best set at Woodstock, for the greatest Greatest Hits album ever, and for inventing racially/politically-conscious funk. If you were hoping to read a music column chronicling the stellar performances going on right now at the Coachella music festival in Indio California read no further. This is going to be more about the impossibility of seeing anything at a concert with too much to choose from. This is the story of one girls futile attempt at creating the perfect time schedule.
It all started about a month ago when my boyfriend and I had some friends over to start listening to the lineup that had been posted on the Coachella website so we could casually decide who would be worth checking out and who we should just skip. Well, what started out as casual was quickly transformed into a type A mission of Excel sheet proportions. We listened to the whole Friday lineup and kept track of our likes and dislikes using an Excel sheet. Seriously. Who does that?
