Good news! After nine days at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center Hospital in Augusta Georgia, Travis Barker has been released and is finally on this way home to Los Angeles this morning.
Barker had to undergo treatment for “severe burns on his torso and lower body” MTVNews reports, after he was in a plane crash that took the lives of 4 people including Barker’s assistant “Lil” Chris Baker, his security guard and the plane’s pilot and co-pilot were killed in the crash.
DJ AM, who was also in the crash was released last Friday, September 26, after being treated for burns as well.
“Travis is in good condition was discharged this morning,” Beth Frits, Barker’s spokesperson told People.com on Monday. “He has left Augusta.”
BeatCrave recently had the wonderful opportunity to join many amazing guests from around the world and share in the opening night celebration of National Geographic’s All World Film Festival held at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. During that celebration, the energetic and talented K’NAAN: The Dusty Foot Philosopher shared songs from his self-titled debut album and the recently released “The Dusty Foot on the Road.”
K’NAAN was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, and spent his childhood in the district of Wardhiigleey (“The River of Blood”) during the Somalia Civil War. His aunt, Magool, was one of Somalia’s most famous singers and his grandfather, Haji Mohamed, is a poet. Needless to say his situational and familial roots helped to formulate his creative genius which was shown, in full force, during his performance.
Joining Ra Ra Riot, Tussle, and Lemonade September 25th, at The Echo was Walter Meego, the electronic duo from Chicago, whose electronic pop sound has been likened to Air and Daftpunk. Justin Sconza and Colin Yarck draw eclectic inspiration from the sounds of Fleetwood Mac and The Beatles to Prince and Madonna. Since relocating to Los Angeles earlier this year, life has been hectic with pool parties and touring. Throughout September and October there’s a non-stop tour of the US and Canada before headlining a citywide tour of Australia. There’s also the anticipated release of their full length album, “Voyager,” after much exposure of their music on “Ugly Betty” and “The Middleman.” Singles like “Forever” and “Girls” ooze down-right dirty addictive lyrics and synthy bubble gum pop that could force a suicide to skip and sing.
A concert is a concert is a concert: there is the audience, the stage, music coming from instruments, clapping at the end of a song (sometimes during a song), lots of clapping at the end of a set, an encore, more clapping, then everyone leaves. A simple formula that has been used over and over and over until, one day, CSS came along and changed everything – for the better.
Comprised of Lovefoxx (vocals), Ana (guitar and keys), Carolina (guitar, drums and backing vocals), Luiza Sa (guitars and keys) and Adriano (bass and backing vocals), CSS started as friends playing around with instruments and then evolved into a group of kids touring the world showing everyone luck enough to see them live that a concert can be much, much more fun than ever thought possible.
Maybe it’s because their roots are Brazilian (a country infamous for it’s amazing celebrations) or maybe it’s because the band is mostly female (after all, girls just wanna have fun, right?) or maybe it’s simply because the bands lead vocalist is named Lovefoxx. Whatever the reason, CSS have decided to turn each of their shows into an all out celebration of music, alcohol and life.

Vivian Girls has been one of the hottest groups to come out of the Brooklyn area in the last year or so. Their single “Wild Eyes” was an underground indie hit and their following has only gotten stronger. These girls are are the real deal. The fact that they have become a sensation in the scene with little promotion and distribution has definitely put them high up in the ranks. Not to mention, they are girls who sound like Jesus & Mary Chain falling in love with The Shangri-Las. Recently signed to In The Red Records, Vivian Girl re-released their hit demo CD-R. Also re-released on the UK Rough Trade Records, their “I Can’t Stay” 7″ single had sold out on pre-orders alone. Talk about living up to the rad hype. Watch their premier video of “Tell The World” (directed by Timothy Fiore), download a new Mp3 titled, “Blind Spot,” (Daisy Chain cover), and check out their upcoming tour dates here! It’s all pure punk goodness.

After they released their EP, This Is Animal Music, Look Mexico has been dubbed as one of the best indie bands to watch for in 2007. With an upbeat yet laid back sound they have often been likened to old-school emo bands such as American Football, and have stuck out like a sore thumb in the power-pop driven Florida area.
Look Mexico wants you to continue looking for their shows coming your way so you can “gasp!” some more. Check out the dates supporting their latest EP, Gasp, Asp, and download three songs here.
