Radiohead re-leases on vinyl, Sonic Youth is almost finished with their album, Indie bands are starting to play live in TV shows, and Gallows announces their newest UK tour. All in today’s round up!
- Atease reports that twelve Radiohead singles are set for re-release on 180-gram vinyl, by Capitol Records. Now you can listen to Radiohead’s hits without the digitalized blocks of 0’s and 1’s! The limited edition singles are due out on April 21 in the US, but fans can pre-order the right now via Insound. [NME]
- Sonic Youth says their newest album, The Eternal, is almost finished and is going to be released in June. It will be their first release on Matador Records, and will have newly-written material since their 2006 album, Rather Ripped. [NME]
- “O.C.” creator Josh Schwartz says that he will be using live bands during his new show “Rockville”, and putting the performances online. From his past endeavors, Death Cab for Cutie, for example, on “The O.C.”, it looks like Schwartz is going to push indie rock bands to center stage, perhaps shedding light on new talent. [Reuters]
- Gallows is set for a UK tour in May. While dates and locations haven’t been revealed yet, it’s possible to get on a mailing list for pre-ordering tickets, and tickets will be available to the general public on 16.01.09. Gallows is also slated to release later this year the much anticipated follow-up album, reportedly being recorded with Rage Against the Machine producer Garth Richardson. [NME]
- The Sundance Film Festival has developed greatly over the past 20 years, but sponsors and attendance is predicted to be low this year. Park City officials say ticket sales have stagnated, so the core audience is still there, and founder Robert Redford maintains that the focus should be “what are the films being shown? And what do they represent?” Pointing out the ‘circus atmosphere’ created in past festivals. [Salt Lake Tribune]
