Sign the Petition to Bring Indie 103.1 Back!

Did our news of Indie 1031. going off the air make your world a little more blue? Are you unsatisfied with the internet iPod-like broadcast? Do you miss the personalities like Jonesy and Mr. Shovel? Well, you may be able to do something about it!

Katie, a former employee from the station, has sent out a mass message this weekend asking friends to go to the site, LET INDIE LIVE, and sign a petition to bring the station back. With Indie 103.1′s Music Director, Mark Sovel, supporting the her, Katie plans to bring the petition to Entravision offices this week. So, before she goes, she needs as many people as possible behind her!

For her personal message, read it below:

Recently, my former employer, L.A’s Indie 103.1 was shut down but it’s company, Entravision. If you have never heard Indie – it was truly the best radio station in a world of mainstream corporate mess. Many of my good friends have lost their jobs, and now L.A’s music scene is now without a platform. Some of the bands you listen to now got their start on Indie 103.1, and most likely without Indie 103.1 and Check One…Two ( the local music show) you would not who they are as of today. People like Henry Rollins, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, Dave Navarro, and Danny Masterson all had shows on Indie. Long story short, with the encouragement of Indie Music Director, Mark Sovel, and former employees, I have started a petition. I plan on taking it to the Entravision offices this week with as many people as I can get behind me. It might not work but, we can’t go quietly. It’s better to do something rather than nothing.
