With new releases from artists like Animal Collective, Bruce Springsteen and Franz Ferdinand, 2009 is off to a successful start. As we near the lucrative festival season, we should only expect the pace of mind-blowing album releases to quicken. Here are a few that Beatcrave just got wind of:

  • Metric will release their fourth album, “Fantasies in the United States and Canada,” on April 14. After rising steeply in popularity throughout the past two years by making various festival, TV and tour appearances, Metric took a break to record the new album in a “Utopian farmhouse studio in the woods outside Seattle, WA,” according to front-woman Emily Haines. Fans can pre-order the record directly from the band starting March 2 and will receive an immediate MP3 download of the first single, “Help I’m Alive.” An acoustic version of the song is also available for download on Metric’s website now. The title track will be released as a single on March 30, but another of the songs, “Jetstream,” is already available for download at the band’s website. Radiohead producer John Leckie stepped in to lay down two tracks, “10.03″ and “Winter Hill,” so keep your ear out for those. The rest of album was produced by Dan Austin.
