Arcade Fire Say that Grammys are “Shitty”

Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has told Uncut magazine that the Grammys are “shitty.” Butler complained that the artists nominated for awards are maltreated during the day of the awards. He complained that his band arrived at the awards at 10 AM and were given nothing to eat or drink before the show, which began at 2 PM. At the show itself, the only food available was hot dogs, for which some guests were offering amounts up to $100, leading to a scene Butler described as “a total crush of humanity.”

I think it’s kind of absurd to hear the stars complain about their treatment at some of these shows. They’re plenty happy to make money off of concerts where the audience is cramped, uncomfortable, and getting ripped off for food/drinks, but it’s unreasonable to expect them to bear any sort of hardship for an awards show that is really just a commercial for the record industry.
