Roundup for The Day of Love, or Hate
By Brian McConnell
It’s that time of year again when the whole country is divided into one of two sides: those who love Valentine’s Day (because they are in love) and those who hate even the mention of the word (because they are single). Regardless of what side you fall on this February 14th, here is a round-up of all things music for that red, red, day.
- Ever sing along to a song you think is happy and heartfelt and then, suddenly, realize there is something much deeper and darker going on in the lyrics? The folks at Bullzeye.com have put together a list of such love songs with their Valentine’s Day appropriate list, “I Love You So Much, I Hate Myself: Songs That Bare Their Souls…And Freak Us Out,” that gives you the 411 on what’s really going on behind the love songs that will soon creep you out
- The first crush is the deepest, the most nerve wracking, and unless you are touched by the hand of love, the biggest let down. Indie artist may sing and play instruments for our enjoyment but they also had first crushes like everyone else. In the appropriately titled, “Indie Artist Share Their First Crush” EMusic.com gets some great artist to dish the dirt on their first crush memories.
- MTVNews have come up with pop heavy lists of their own celebrating the “Top 10 Best Love Songs” right alongside the “Top 10 Breakup Songs.” Both list are cheesy but perfect for the pop enthusiast buried deep, deep, deep in the heart of all of us.
- Ryan Adams has come up with a list of his own in the form of a digital EP of seven Valentine Inspired tracks titled, “Extra Cheese” now available exclusively on iTunes. [NME]
