Tinted Windows: Oddest Supergroup Ever
By Seraphina L.
So, we love it when great musicians collaborate on songs. We love it even more when they form another recording group with each other. However, we’ve come across a new one and we don’t don’t really know what to say about it… Apparently, the newest pop supergroup out there right now is Tinted Windows. Who is in Tinted Windows? Well… there’s James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins (guitar), Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne (bass), Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick (drums), and Taylor Hanson from… er… Hanson (vox). Their album will be coming out in the spring.
Let’s take a moment of silence for future fans of Tinted Windows. These people will probably be going through some mental illness right before they realize how foolish their music taste was… and that will be the last straw for them…
Bun E. Carlos? Taylor Hanson?
What are you thinking? I don’t want to be alone with these thoughts.

There are so many legendary rock musicians who have been close friends with Hanson for years. If you're a musician and you are not friends with Hanson yet, you're nobody these days. lol
But good luck to the band

I don't know if you're alone in feeling that way or not, but I'm personally pretty excited about this project. Then again, I'm a huge power pop fan, and from the sound of it, this is going to be a power pop album. You might want to give it a listen before condemning it.

Awesome, I love Hanson. Apparently Taylor is the lead singer.

Maybe you should broaden your musical taste and knowledge before you make "foolish" comments.
I think this band will be great, even with Taylor Hanson (who I have seen collaborate with Andrew WK). And what's wrong with cheap trick?
Anyway, I'm intersted.

Ohh this sounds like quite an interesting combination. I can't wait to give it a listen!

I personally think this band will be interesting in a good way. I hate how just because Taylor Hanson is in it people think it will be bad. Hanson in my opinion is one of the greatest bands of all time. They have like at least 9 albums and people just judge them because of there hit mmmbop. Which if you'd actually listen to the lyrics, you'd realize it's a very meaningful song. People should really be more open-minded and check out their newest album "The Walk." Hanson's songs have really intelligent lyrics though, so this may be a problem I'm not sure if Seraphina could comprehend them. I wouldn't want anyone to get a "mental illness." haha

Looks like I'll bite, too. "Smashing" success or utter failure, I wanna be there to see it!

Is this a one time collaboration/album, or is this a band that is here for good? I love the song Stacy’s Mom and read a review on EverHype (www.everhype.com/?utm_source=bc) that gave it 3 stars, but it’s hard for me to think about this sound melding with that of Smashing Pumpkins or Hanson. Has anyone heard them?

I agree with Seraphina, this group sounds bizarre. And…on a more urgent and pressing matter…where did all these Hanson fans come from? Who knew!?!

LOL Brian McConnell : We've always been here!! Everywhere!! Trying to educate people about the truth that lies behind Hanson since crazy things started happening after their second major label album, This Time Around. The thing is, people just seem to ignore us everytime. We still request their music in radiostations, we still want to see them on MTV and VHI, we still vote for them in polls… Media is not good with us. You should check out the documentary Strong Enough to Break… and then might be interested in Taking the Walk Podcast. Both are free. Just google them. Both are free. I believe that many must do some research on Hanson before judging them. Specially people that writes stuff on the Internet and pusblish it. Too bad. Their ignorant comments are shameful, always.

where did the hanson fans come from? hanson still has a ton of fans (most fo whom have been around since 1997). They have been recording and putting out albums since then, actually, their first record they released on thei own label in 2004 was number 1 on the billboard independed chart it's first week out. &Taylor has said though they are all excited about Tinted Windows, they all still have their "base" bands, which will remain their base band, this is just a fun side project they ahve all worked on over the past few years when they could.

I'm really excited accually, I need some new [good hopefully] pop music, and from the 1 song I heard I really accually like it. I'm a big fan of James [kinda how I found out] and I do think the casting line up is a bit well diverse (I'm mean let's compare Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins to Hanson] but it'll make it even more intresting.

I'm really looking forward to this collaboration! What an odd and exciting mix of people to record an album together! It took me quite a few listens to warm up to "Kind of a Girl," but I have to say, it is a great, catchy power-pop tune. The good thing about it is that it doesn't claim to be anything but that! Taylor Hanson says it best in his interview with Smoking Section on RollingStone.com, " The whole project is really about writing songs that are totally straightforward, and are not trying to prove something or have some extremely deep meaning. It's about girls, the back and forth. We're trying to be as unpretentious about it as possible." I really understood the group more after I read that. This music is supposed to be fun, pure and simple. And it is… so far!

I WANT TO KISS TAYLOR'S LIPS. AND THEN, TO DO MORE………

It may be an odd formation, as long as they're enjoying it, then whatever. Plus "Kind of a Girl" is damn catchy.
