The February leg of the Drive By Truckers’ Righteous Path tour hit a snag late last week when co-frontman Patterson Hood came down with walking pneumonia, an ailment that would make for an awesome band name, but doesn’t lend itself well to high energy rocking. After fighting through a few weeks of on again/off again illness, Hood was forced to sit out two DBT shows over the weekend in Washington, D.C.  According to a post on the band’s website, the remaining shows this week, including tonight’s show in Lexington, KY, have been postponed.  So far, three dates have already been rescheduled:

  • Thursday, March 26th, Lexington, KY @ The Dame
  • Friday, March 27th, Memphis, TN @ New Daisy
  • Saturday, March 28th, St. Louis, MO @ PAGEANT

Rescheduled dates for Wednesday’s show in Milwaukee and Saturday’s show in Tuscaloosa have yet to be announced.

This is certainly sad news for anyone who was expecting to attend the rock show this week, but anyone who has ever seen the DBT live knows Patterson Hood goes all out on stage.  That’s not really the kind of action you look forward to when you’re stricken with pneumonia.  We wish him a speedy recovery.

In much happier DBT news, Harmonix and MTV Games announced the addition of an “Alt Country 01″ 5-pack to the Rock Band music store catalog.  The Truckers will be featured alongside fellow alt country heavyweights Neko Case, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and The Old 97′s. Starting today for Xbox users and Thursday for the Playstation inclined, gamers can download the tracks which include “Three Dimes Down,” the Mike Cooley fronted gem from the DBT’s epic 2008 album Brighter Than Creation’s Dark.  If you’re longing for a reason to invite some friends over and get your triple guitar attack on, this would be it.  For the record, I have no idea if that is actually possible, but it would be cool as shit if it is.
