THE GARDEN PARTY: Red Cortez “Encore”
By WayneTHE GARDEN PARTY: Red Cortez “Neal Cassady” from The Garden Party on Vimeo.
Because of the popularity of the Red Cortez Garden Party and in celebration of their upcoming tour with the Minister of Mope himself, Morrissey, for this month’s Garden Party we decided to share a few more moments from the evening’s festivities on that special night in August.
We present 3 songs (2 more after the jump…you’ll want to check out!). Each holds a distinguishing characteristic of the immense talent that is “Red Cortez”.
“Neal Cassady” is a classic for these guys that usually converts most skeptics into true fans of the band with one listen. Check it out above if you haven’t already.
“Leap Into the Void” was their encore that wasn’t on the set list for the evening, but after such an amazing show, the audience wanted more and Harley and Ryan obliged. This performance characterizes the live energy the band possesses and how they’re able to capture an audience’s attention and never let it go until they’re finished. Enjoy the medley at the end that’s simultaneously touching and amusing…

“Fight Song (for the Desalojos)” breaks from the normal sound of the band, but somehow still flows seamlessly into their set. A traditional styled song about the plight of Guatemalan mine workers, it shows how true the band is to both their musical roots and their heritage…
