After 20 years with BNL, lead singer Steven Page has decided to step away and embark on a solo mission of singing and theatrics. The parting was mutual and amicable, and the four remaining members, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson and Tyler Stewart will continue to record and tour. There has been speculation as to whether Page leaving BNL has anything to do with his arrest for cocaine possession last year.

On July 11, 2008, Page and friend were arrested and charged for fourth degree criminal possession. There has been speculation as to whether Page leaving BNL has anything to do with this arrest, however, there is no evidence to support these suspicions.

One thing is for certain, the original grammy-nominated clan of Barenaked Ladies is no longer. Now, as two separate acts, they are both attempting to stay afloat in the cutthroat music business.

Does Page have what it takes to make is as a solo artist? Can BNL really be BNL without the main singer? It didn’t for Queen and they had 10 times the fame. Good luck boys!
