After a string of hush-hush appearances in Los Angeles and plans to tour with Nine Inch Nails through the spring and summer, it is apparent that Jane’s Addiction is back in full force.

To further solidify their triumphant return, which will feature all four original members together for the first time in 17 years (bassist Eric Avery was absent during their last go-round in 2003), Jane’s Addiction is releasing a new box set, “A Cabinet of Curiosities,” in April.

The collection will feature 43 live songs, demos, rare tracks and remixes (30 of which are previously unreleased) on three CDs and one DVD. These will be packaged in a limited-edition wooden cabinet (hence the name) for around $75, but fans will be able to opt for a digital version that will most likely be a bit cheaper.

Looks pretty sweet, but what’s more exciting is its focus (in coalition with the upcoming tour) on material made with the band’s original lineup. I’m not gonna lie, Jane’s last studio effort, “Strays,” featured a replacement bassist and the record just seemed forced, like they were lacking the right chemistry.

But now, we have all the guys back together to deliver their unique brand of sex-driven funk-metal-punk, and recent reports indicate that they are recording a new record with the help of NIN’s Trent Reznor. Consider this box set the adrenaline-inducing pre-show to the grand finale.

Tell us your thoughts about the Jane’s Addiction reunion. Will we witness the same raw rock energy that we witnessed in the band’s heyday?
