The weekend’s over already and you’re probably back at your desk job or surfing the web in class while your teacher drones on and on – or maybe you’re just in need of a good read. In any case, you’ve come to right place for some fresh music news to start off the week. Until you get your hands on a steaming cup of coffee, here are some of the weekend’s top headlines to get  you going:

  • I hate to think that my writing about him might actually inflate his ego more, but the latest in the Kanye-West-is-a-whiner series is just too entertaining to pass up. Over the weekend, West made comments during a taping of VH1′s “Storytellers” saying that Radiohead “snubbed” him backstage at the Grammys (the comments were not included in the episode). He seemed to be referring mostly to Thom Yorke, or one specific Radiohead member, because he’s quoted saying, “So when he performed at the Grammys, I sat the fuck down.” There is a slim possibility, West actually thinks Radiohead is just Thom Yorke, hence the “he” not the “they”. I’m surprised we didn’t hear further reports of Kanye calling Radiohead to uninvite them from his birthday party…

  • On Sunday, UK sensations The Prodigy swept Lily Allen and Kings of Leon aside to claim the No. 1 spot on the UK album charts with their recent release, “Invaders Must Die.” No real surprise here, seeing as every one of The Prodigy’s albums since 1994′s “Music For the Jilted Generation” have stolen the spot. Congrats to the Essex boys for successfully pounding out the hits (and scaring the hell out of people everywhere) for all these years.
  • Things are about to get super freaky on March 24. Producer/director Joe Lauro, who documented the Four Tops and the Supremes, is set to release a Rick James documentary titled I’m Rick James! The Definitive DVD. The film features some of the pop-funk-soul singer’s most notable performances along with never-before-seen music videos and TV interview clips. And as far as I know, there’s no Dave Chappelle parodies in sight to taint the musical genius! The film is must see for anyone who wants to remember that James was more than a successful singer with an extravagant drug problem – he was pure soul, baby.
