BeatCrave Fav: Efterklang

Efterklang in some ways can be classified as a Parliament Funkadelic from Denmark – sans funk, however rich and textured. With five core members and numerous rotating talent – up to 30 at at time, as of the band’s history to date – albums and live shows alike are ultra-involved and elaborate without being overwhelming. Their  folk-inspired sound is comprised of electronica and somewhat nondescript fluid components, which contributes to modern dreamy classical arrangements. Brass sections, string sections, choirs, and varied percussion are intricate executed and strategically placed to invoke a feeling of calm until decidedly ambushing listeners’ senses (somewhat like Jack Daniels). All in all, the best thing about Efterklang is that their versatility makes it difficult to pin them with a label – a major benefit to them (freedom and flexibility in composition) and listeners alike (innovative sound).
