This year’s Southbank Ether Festival in April will feature Squarepusher, Plaid, Mouse on Mars and Tim Exile performing alongside David Byrne, Peaches, John Hassell and Röyksopp. The UK festival will also have a series of “Ether Talks” from Brian Eno and Rob da Bank.
The festival, now in its ninth year, has teamed up with BFI Southbank for a series of Ether-related films, and aims to focus on artists pushing the limits of African music, visual arts installations, technology, and cross-arts experimentation. You can follow the festival’s updates via Twitter at www.twitter.com/etherfestival.
The British electronic music duo Plaid, signed to Warp Records, regularly perform live performances accompanied by video artist Bob Jaroc, and will be playing on April 18. Squarepusher is on April 24, and is part of a broader European tour playing new material from his new EP Numbers Lucent and album Just a Souvenir.
The Ether organizers are even going to have a store for Ether artist’s material, which you can check out at www.roughtrade.com/ether. If you can make it, the festival has a worthy line-up, and promises to have the newest in cutting-edge music and arts technology.
