Dead Man’s Bones New Video
By sergiosoto
Last year Dead Man’s Bones, Ryan Gosling and Zach Sheilds, released a video for their track, “In The Room Where You Sleep.” It is dark and sad song that is driven by piano and hard drums, but has a certain quality of innocence due to singing children’s choir that backs the band. When I had seen it, I was surprisingly impressed. It’s seldom that you actually want to listen to an actor’s music project for pure enjoyment of the tunes, and not for the sake of novelty. Gosling has proven himself to be a man of many talents, and the new video for the song, “Name in Stone,” is just as enthralling as the last.
The new video was filmed at a cemetery, which only adds to the mournful theme of the lyrics. The idea for the video is simple and the music is more stripped down then the former track, but it is still very effective and quite catchy. This video also features L.A. Inner Mass Choir and The Silverlake Conservatory of Music Children’s Choir; the children are, again, dressed up in their cutest/darkest Halloween costumes, which I think adds a nice touch and consistency.

And here’s the video for, “In the Room Where You Sleep,” in case you missed it.
Both their official website and their myspace, have the caption that states, “Album soon.” Though I totally dig Ryan Gosling as an actor (Murder By Numbers, Full Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl, etc.), I would be completely content with seeing him quit that and just produce more songs like these.
What do you think? Do you think that Gosling has successfully made the cross-over to music?
