News RoundUp: Pitchfork festival
By Allison
Hey BeatCravers! Hope you had a relaxing weekend. Here are some stories you may have missed:
- Google and Universal team up to create Vevo, a website that promises to be like a video channel on YouTube. YouTube is providing the infrastructure, and Universal is providing the videos. What will the new content be? Will YouTube users have to go to this new website? Can the new player be embedded? No one knows just yet, but I bet big things are coming this way. [Spacelab]
- 8 new acts have been added to this year’s Pitchfork festival in Chicago! Already announced performances from the Flaming Lips, the National, Grizzly Bear, and Built to Spill. And now we have: M83, Black Lips, Fucked Up, MC Charles Hamilton, Wavves, Very Best, Dutchess and the Duke, and Matt and Kim. Sounds like it’ll be crazy! [Pitchfork]
- And, just for Passover, SaveFans has compiled a list of 10 notable Jewish musicians! Hmmm…I didn’t know David Bowie was Jewish. Anyway, the list has some pleasant surprises, from shocking number 10 to rocking number 1! [SaveFans]
