New Music: The Breeders, The Streets and Arctic Monkeys
By davidhall
Spring is always a productive time of year for musicians around the world, but this season seems particularly prolific for artists finishing and/or releasing new material.
Today, The Breeders released a free download and video from their upcoming EP “Fate to Fatal,” The Streets have a new track available on Twitter, and the Arctic Monkeys have confirmed that their new album is finished! Find out how to get your hands on some of the new digs below the jump…
The Breeders’ limited-edition EP, “Fate to Fatal”, invades record stores April 21st, but for fans who just can’t wait, the Deal sisters have released a free download of the title track, “Fate to Fatal”, via RollingStone.com today. With its Pixies-like guitar vibe and charming chanting, the song, which runs just under three minutes, is sure to be a hit.
Also this morning, Mike Skinner AKA The Streets released a new song, “I Love My Phone“, on his Twitter feed. It’s great to see that even though he just released a fresh album a few months ago, the singer/rapper is keeping fans in the loop during the creative process. If you enjoy this track, brace yourself – Skinner plans to release two more songs as part of a Twitter-exclusive trilogy in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders confirmed via a self-recorded YouTube video that the band has finished its (as yet untitled) studio followup to 2007′s “Favourite Worst Nightmare“. Unfortunately, he doesn’t provide us with a sneak preview or a free download, but music fest fans lucky enough to attend Leeds and Reading music festivals this August will surely get a taste of the new material. The album is expected to hit stores later this year.
Obviously, this spring is a hotbed for new releases and album announcements. What releases are you most excited for?
