we are hunted Music Sites: We Are Hunted and Twt.fm

Two new music services appeared recently: We Are Hunted and Twt.fm. The first collects data from social networks to serve up the best 99 songs of the day, and the latter is a tool that finds and creates pages for songs, and lets you post them directly to Twitter.

We Are Hunted tracks characteristics like “sentiment, expression, and advocacy” in comment sections, forums, blogs, P2P networks (and Twitter), and sorts out the top songs of the day. The site is nicely designed and it’s easy to navigate and listen to the chosen 99. There are links to buy the tracks on iTunes, and though many of the artists are new, I was glad to find tracks from DJ Mehdi, Holy Fuck, Mr. Oizo, and no less than six songs from Yeah Yeah Yeahs amongst the elected.

Twt.fm is about letting others discover the music you are listening to, it serves as a platform for finding music samples, and posting the songs instantly to your Twitter account. When I tried it, the service created an update that automatically included the #musicmonday tag, a group that has gained in popularity lately on the micro-blogging site. If the song you’re looking for isn’t available, Twt.fm provides an mp3 link, YouTube link, or embed using Imeem.

We Are Hunted quenches your thirst for new bands and, if you’re so inclined, publish your findings immediately afterward on Twitter using Twt.fm. Do you prefer recommending songs to others, or the other way around?
