omarrodriguez News Roundup: Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Massive Attack, Rainwater Cassette Exchange...

Hey BeatCravers! Did you enjoy Coachella? Here are some stories you may have missed over the weekend:

  • Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, songwriter/player in the Mars Volta has a new project called El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodríguez-López because it’s short and to the point. Three thousands copies of the LP were available for Record Store Day. [Stereogum]
  • Deerhunter is releasing a new EP this spring. Rainwater Cassette Exchange will be released on May 18 as a download, with a full CD and 12″ release on June 8 through Kranky [Spacelab]
  • April 18th was Record Store Day, something I personally (and, really all of you should) support. Locally owned record stores are doing terrible in this economy, but on April 18th, they bring out all the goodies they can find to get people away from iTunes and Amazon and into an actual store. [Aversion]
  • Massive Attack has announced that they will officially begin their first tour in three years on September 17th in Brixton. Tickets got on sale this Friday (April 24th) [NME]
