Check out what’s going on in the world of music below…

  • Flipper | Friday, April 23 | 6:00 pm | Free | Amoeba Music, Berkeley, CA – Map| The evolved and reformed San Francisco-based punk band will be performing in observance of the re-issue of four vinyl albums that assisted in catapulting their career from 1979 onward – Generic Flipper, Gone Fishin’, Public Flipper Limited, and Sex Bomb Baby!. For more information, call (510) 549-1125.
  • Queensrÿche | Friday, April 24 | 8:00 pm | $45 | House of Blues Sunset Strip, Hollywood, CA – Map | The experimental and progressive metal rock band will be promoting their latest release, American Soldier, and the sentiment that they decidedly kick as much ass now as they did in the ’80s. Click here for tickets.
  • Alkaline Trio | Saturday, April 25 | 7:00 pm | $20.50 | Starland Ballroom, Sayreville, NJ – Map | The going-down-easy band is very streamlined in an audible sense (if there is such a thing; listen here). The established band will be pit-stopping as part of their spring fling with the Northeast US, as it were. Click here for tickets.

  • Bang Camaro | Saturday, April 25 | 7:30 pm | $15 | Viper Room, West Hollywood, CA – Map | We’re sure the already-super-charged band and adjunct choir (you read correctly, and it’s rather apropos considering their late ’60s/early ’70s classic rock style) will be amped-up even more so, as they’ll be fresh from a live taping at Jimmy Kimmel Live the night prior. Click here for tickets.
  • Misha | Sunday, April 26 | 9:00 pm | Free | Parkside Lounge, New York, NY – Map | The Russian-born musician succeeds in conjuring  original music from unoriginal variations of human discontent. Being all at once melodramatic, emotional, and encompassing in a manner that doesn’t try too hard, is a good quality hard to come by. And it can’t go without mention that “free” is our favorite four-letter word. For more information, call (212) 673-6270.
