Local Natives: BeatCrave Fav

If you haven’t heard of Local Natives yet, your only excuse is that you may have not known that they used to be called Cavil At Rest. With lush harmonies and intricate percussion, this 5-piece group has been putting on an incredible live set one show after another. They also do an amazing cover of Talking Head’s “Warning Sign” which is almost better than the original. What I love most about this band is that with every note they play, they make it all their own. Even their artwork is pretty rad. (See their own graphic design above.) When I dig a local band, I really dig them because with a talented group of guys like Local Natives, they deserve the attention. Local Natives is definitely one of the many Los Angeles bands I’ve had the pleasure of discovering during the past few months. Read our interview with the band for proof!
Their full-length debut, Gorilla Manor, won’t be coming out for a few months but check Local Natives out in our BeatCrave Fav series below! If you think they’re one of the greatest up and coming indie bands, make sure to vote for them in Friday’s poll!
