primavera1 Primavera Sound Festival 09 Schedule Released

Excitement is hard to contain for the upcoming Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, Spain from May 28-30. The schedule has been released, and tickets are on sale right now. The schedule is ridiculously huge, with simultaneous shows of must-see bands spread out across no less than six stages. A quick look at the lineup immediately presents some difficult decisions.

Some of the highlights on Thursday 28 include Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Marnie Stern, The Jesus Lizard and The Bug. Friday, the Pitchfork stage looks like a good hangout, with The Mae Shi, but don’t stay put for long as you’ll also want to try and check out Shellac and Tokyo Sex Destruction. The festival schedule is available by artist name, stage, and day, or you can take a look at the full schedule (pdf). Tell us your favorite bands after the cut:

Our favorites for the final day are The Bad Plus, Oneida, Gang Gang Dance, Simian Mobile Disco, Neil Young, A-Trak and DJ Mehdi. Reunited bands The Vaselines, My Bloody Valentine and Throwing Muses will also be performing. It’s a veritable overload of tasty performances, and it’s going to be impossible to see everything. But every performance will be top-notch, and you’re guaranteed a good show wherever you happen to be.primaveraambiente dani canto 07 340x176 Primavera Sound Festival 09 Schedule Released

There’s even a “complementary” program that has plenty of performances before and after the festival, so there’s more if you can make it early and stay late. The festival has quite a bit to offer, and we’ll definitely be running around frantically to try and see everything. If you can’t make it, make sure you don’t miss our coverage of the event.

Next week we’ll be taking a closer look at some of the bands we’re eager to see, and in the meantime, we’d like you to give that schedule a second look, and leave a comment stating which artists you’re most looking forward to.

Are you attending? What are your favorite bands in the lineup?
