Searchme is the new search engine that lets you share information instantly on Twitter and Facebook. It organizes your search into an animation that bring up each page and present s text associated with the page. You then have the option to share the page, zoom in to read it and click through to the original URL address.

Randy Adams, Founder and CEO of Searchme thinks that the service can streamline communication online.  He says “whether it’s breaking news stories, videos that makes them laugh or songs from their favorite artist, people love to share what they find on the web with friends and family.”

But does the service help us do those things? I decided to find out.

Pages can be “stacked” or saved in groups. Each stack gets its own URL address and with one click you can easily share on Twitter. I made a stack that contains several The Mars Volta videos and the band’s homepage and simply clicked a button to post it to Twitter. However, since Searchme is still in a “beta” version, the stacks are erased if you close your browser.

If you search for musicians, there’s the option to show results for concert tickets, and you can separate you results in different categories like news, music, video and web. The service is handy for sharing and it’s visually appealing, but I don’t know if it can substitute other search engines and sharing platforms sites. Try it out, tell us what you think!

While on the topic of new search engines, Wolfram Alpha is almost live. Developed by Stephen Wolfram, the system purportedly turns up calculated data instead of listed pages like Google. It gives you the answer instead of making you scroll through a list of possible sites that contain an answer. So I begin to think, what will pop up if musicians, tracks and albums are searched?

Wolfram Alpha compiles data from the entire Internet to give you a comprehensive result, so there is the possibility that it won’t turn up mathematical results all the time. The “Answer Engine” will be available this month, and it’ll be fun to try!

When it comes to getting informed on your favorite music, how important is the way you search? Can music search results can be improved?
