Concert Tickets: The Weakerthans, RX Bandits, Set Your Goals…

What’s on sale? What’s worth buying? Find out our seven picks for concert tickets you should buy this weekend…
Canadian Indie Rock band The Weakerthans have announced a quick West Coast tour which begins July 17th with an appearance at the Vancouver Folk Festival and features dates in Washington and California before finally ending in Portland, OR on July 25th. You can find dates and venues here.
For those of you who grew up in So Cal in the late 90’s probably remember when the RX Bandits were a fun little ska act. Now, as they have grown up, they have become an experimental reggae act. Think not as fun but more critically acclaimed. Cough.
The fans still love them though, and they should show up in droves as the Bandits have announced the first half of their co-headlining Summer tour with the always knock-your-socks-off Dredg. Splitting opening duties will be Good Old War, Zechs Marquise (who sounds like he may have come off of the bench for the San Antonio Spurs in the late 90’s) and As Tall As Lions. You can find dates here.
Bay Area pop-punks Set Your Goalsh ave announced a two and a half month headlining tour in support of their new record “This Will Be The Death Of Us” with the grammatically- incorrect Four Year Strong and Fireworksopening all dates. The tour begins July 15th in Iowa City, IA and hits major cities (along with such punk hot spots as Montgomery, AL and Metairie, LA) before coming to a close August 26th in Denver, CO. You can find all dates here.
If ska is still your thing (and don’t think your alone, it’s still big business on the touring circuit), then chances are you’ll be happy to learn that veteran ska band Reel Big Fish has announced a summer tour with even more veteran British ska band The English Beat. The Supervillians will open all dates on the tour which begins July 3rd in Royal Oaks, MI and winds its way though the East Coast, Southwest and West Coast before ending ending August 14th in Chicago. Find the dates here.
If you like hardcore music and your bank account has only ten dollars in it (plus enough for all applicable fees and service charges which I imagine will at least double the cost), then your in luck as the inaugural “10 for $10″ tour is set to begin July 9th in Philadelphia. The shows will be headlined by Poison the Well, Bane and Madball and features support by the likes of Terror, Crime in Stereo and more. Tickets go on sale starting Friday and you can find dates here.
While tickets for the upcoming Blink-182 reunion tour don’t go on sale until May 30th (in other words, tune in next week, folks), the band has announced their (rather complex) schedule of opening band for their upcoming 2 1/2 month US/ Canada jaunt. Fall Out Boy and Weezer will be main support (never on the same bill though, because, apparently, seeing Rivers Cuomo and Pete Wentz on the same night would make your head explode), with The All American Rejects, Taking Back Sunday and Panic At The Disco (who hopefully will stop playing Bread covers and go back to be a fun guilty- pleasure) taking turns in the second opening spot, and either Asher Roth or Chester Frenchopening. Phew. I count at least ten different opening band combinations on this tour. Don’t worry, you can make your out vin diagram of these combinations using this. The band also announced that lawn tickets will be $20 for the tour, all fees included. So that’s rad. Totally.
