Now here’s a musical collaboration we can get down with: A new rock n’ roll band featuring members of Queens Of The Stone Age and Mark Lanegan’s band are now set to release their debut EP in July.

Going with the instantly awesome band name Sweethead, after a David Bowie B-side, the new group features Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens Of The Stone Age) on guitar, Norm Block (Mark Lanegan’s band) on drums, Eddie Nappi (Lanegan) on bass and vocalist Serrina Sims.

The band’s debut EP ‘The Great Disruptors’ is planned for release on July 13. It includes a cover of The Kinks’ classic tune, “Tired of Waiting For You.”

The track is also available as a free download from www.sweethead.net.

No doubt this collaboration is a hot draw as they tour their way around European tour and on to the U.S. next month. Judging just by the few song samples on the group’s MySpace page, it’s clear this is no-frills rock (plus some punk style), with a seductive edge; it doesn’t hurt that Serrina Sims has a bit of Chrissie Hynde in her vocal style.

The track listing for ‘The Great Disruptors’ is:

  • The Great Disruptors
  • Hardspun
  • Arcane Arcade
  • Traumatized And Dumb
  • Tired of Waiting For You
