dfest Download Festival Offers Live, Free Web Stream

The Download Festival is going worldwide – by way of the Internet. So all you hard rockers make sure your Internet connection is working properly. The metal festival, has announced that the majority of performances from the Main Stage will be streamed live throughout the weekend of 12th-14th June.

The performances can be streamed live at www.downloadfestival.co.uk.

This year’s three-day festival, which takes place at Donington Park in England and features more than 120 acts(!), includes awesome rockers like Faith No More, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, The Prodigy, Motley Crue, Journey, Tesla and Def Leppard.

The 2007 live web stream of the festival, developed by promoter Live Nation, was a big hit, highlighted by Iron Maiden’s epic main stage performance. There was no live stream last year, but it looks like all the acts performing on the main stage this year are happy to have their performances aired live and online. That’s quite a treat if you can’t be in attendance at the popular rock fest.

Mark Yovich, executive vice president and general manager, international digital at Live Nation said in a statement: “We are creating a continuous 24-hour stream that will begin on Friday and run through the weekend until Sunday night, providing fans in all time zones the ability to tune in and enjoy some of the Download experience.”

In addition to performances, the festival website (www.downloadfestival.co.uk) will feature behind-the-scenes news reports and interviews.

Highlights from the show will also be broadcast on VH1 Classic and MTV Palladia, plus as a special episode of That Metal Show, the talk show hosted by Eddie Trunk.

The first Download Festival was held in 2003.

A short list of other acts scheduled to appear across the four stages include:

Bleed From Within, Sleepercurve, Blackhole, New Device, The Outcry Collective, Tripswitch, The Instigators, In Case Of Fire, Hardcore Superstar, Symphony Cult, The Crave, Billy Boy On Poison, The Ghost Of A Thousand, People In Planes, The Auteur, 13 Riots, Forever Never, The Computers, Serpico, Sabbat, Flood Of Red, Attack!
